We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend in celebration of Labor Day! Family, friends, sunshine, and barbecues are some things we use to describe this weekend. I know that everyone wants to see photos of the food but I was enamored by the contrast of the flames against the barbecue grill. Also if you look closely, you can see the heat from the flames distorts the image of the air just above the grill. This phenomenon, more generally known as refraction, occurs because light travels through air differently depending on the temperature of the air. This photo was taken at Crissy Field in San Francisco.
